WEEK ONE
Week One: We begin the course with John Singer Sargent. We will look at his contemporary looking charcoal drawings, drawn around 150 years ago and create our own sketches using our differentiated resources.
WEEK TWO & THREE
Week Two: This week, we will start our first two-part Edgar Degas’ inspired ballerina using soft pastels. We will start drawing our figures and capturing a loose dramatic background.
Week Three: This week we will complete your two-part deep dive into the work of Edgar Degas. You will finish using Degas’ infamous stylistic flourishes to create drama and movement.
WEEK FOUR & FIVE
Week Four: Taking inspiration from Monet’s ‘Water Lily Series’, choose between soft pastels or oil pastels to create a study of a lily pond. Use one of our differentiated reference images or bring your own photography to work from.
Week Five: Finish your lily pond drawing with those final pops of saturated colour, highlights and contrasting shadows.
WEEK SIX & SEVEN
Week Six: In the style of Vincent Van Gogh, we begin our two-part acrylic painting using photographs of almond or magnolia blossom. We will start this week with a lesson on mixing teals for your background and constructing your branches.
Week Seven This week, we will finish your acrylic paintings by capturing Van Goghs style and colour palette to create depth.
