WEEK ONE & TWO

Week One: We begin the course with a two-part class on capturing light within a portrait. Create this artist study of Leonardo Da Vinci’s pastel sketch or apply the same techniques to a portrait of your choice.

Week Two: This week, we complete your charcoal Da Vinci portrait using pastels and charcoals.

WEEK THREE

Have your pencil sharpener ready! This week, we look at how to capture black fur by using highlights & pops of colour to create glossy fur with mark making.

WEEK FOUR

This week, we will use mark making and tonal value to create an illustration of an octopus. We will look at how to make a static drawing have movement and curl out of the page using light.

WEEK FIVE

This week you will learn how to layer watercolour paint to both capture a reflective surface and create 3D form. Draw from your own still life image, or use our differentiated resources.

WEEK SIX & SEVEN

WEEK 6: We begin our two-part Gouache painting on capturing an illuminated woodland scene. This week we will establish our composition and block in values.

Week 7: Have your fine paint brushes ready! This week we build detail and texture into our Gouache woodland painting.
