Who Are MUKTI?

  • MUKTI was founded by Swami Ambikananda and is a project of The Traditional Yoga Association.

  • MUKTI raises funds for and awareness of those whose lives are lived without what many of us take for granted: a home, an education, a loving environment.

  • The MUKTI Project has supported various projects:

    • Karm Marg ~ a home for street children just outside Delhi.

    • Naz ~ a home for abandoned HIV Positive boys and girls.

    • Maher ~ India’s largest shelter for battered women and their children.

    • MUKTI does not administer any of these homes, they are organised by loving and committed people in India ~ our work is to raise funds so that their work can continue.

    • MUKTI also contributes to Crisis, Centrepoint and Launchpad in Reading, all charities that deal with homelessness in the UK.

  • Everyone who works for MUKTI is a volunteer, and none of the funds MUKTI raises goes to salaries in the UK.

For many years I have wanted to find a time and a place to connect more with my creative side. Brushstrokes has given me this opportunity. The course is varied and interesting. Laura’s style of tutoring lends itself perfectly to virtual learning. Her enthusiasm, passion and guidance make you feel she is in the room with you.

“I’ve been desperate to do some art again for 20 years but always found excuses for being too busy. September 2019 I decided that I would either have to start or give up thinking about it. So I found a class which taught all different mediums and thought I’d give it a go. I was really nervous turning up for that first class as I thought everyone would be better than me. Laura was the teacher. She welcomed everyone with a smile and laughter and a can do attitude. I will always remember her saying that everyone can do art but the ones who are good are the ones that have had more practice. I totally loved those classes and met some amazing friends. I’ve never looked back and am so thrilled that I took the plunge and have art back it my life. Laura your teaching makes my heart sing. Thank you 🙏”
